What We Do
As a Notary Public in Canberra, our services include:
- Witnessing signatures on documents for overseas use
- Certifying true copies of original documents
- Preparing and certifying powers of attorney and affidavits
- Verifying identity documents
- Binding notarial certificates with internationally accepted seals and ribbons
- Advising on authentication and apostille requirements for foreign countries
Our notarial acts are intended for international use. For domestic matters, we can assist in our capacity as solicitors.
How It Works
- Document Review
We check what’s needed and advise you if a translation or additional documentation is required.
- Identity Verification
We apply a rigorous 100-point ID check to ensure compliance with international requirements. For companies, we confirm ASIC records and signing authority.
- Witnessing and Notarial Certificate
Once verified, we witness the execution of the document and prepare a notarial certificate in either private or public form.
- Sealing and Binding
Your document is sealed with a traditional notarial wafer and embossed. Where required, we bind it to prevent tampering and to meet international standards.
- Apostille or Authentication
If your document needs to be recognised overseas, we guide you through the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) process to obtain an Apostille or Authentication, depending on the destination country.
Notary Fees
Our fees follow the official recommended scale issued by the Society of Notaries of New South Wales. In most cases, costs are as follows:
- Certifying a copy of a document (up to 5 pages): around $275 (incl. GST)
- Witnessing a signature or executing a Power of Attorney: around $302.50 (incl. GST)
- Consultation fees (if required): from $99 (incl. GST)
- Hourly rates for complex matters: from $715 (incl. GST)
These are general estimates. Please contact us for an individual quote tailored to your documents and circumstances.
