Dermott has over 25 years of experience in both commercial law and litigation with the benefit of having worked as a partner of national law firms and working with companies and law firms in which he founded.
During this time, Dermott has worked with large Australian banks; commercial lenders; non-bank residential lenders; hedge funds; fund managers; and SME’s to assist with all corporate and commercial issues with an emphasis around financial services. As a result of his commercial acumen, Dermott has also been engaged by industries outside financial services, in particular, with logistics clients.
Dermott has advised on M&A’s; corporate structures; commercial transactions; banking and finance documents and processes, including enforcement; regulatory compliance (with an emphasis on Australian Financial Services Licences); risk management and mitigation; insolvency and restructuring issues; litigation funding; and a broad range of commercial issues.
In addition, Dermott has founded two law firms and a commercial consultancy and he has been engaged to assist in the development of a superannuation fund; a non-bank lender and a litigation funder.
